The 2nd convoy of the International Trade Union Network of Solidarity and Struggles in Solidarity with Ukraine visited the industrial city of Kryvyi Rih, in central Ukraine 60km from the Dnieper, at the invitation of the city's independent trade unions and in particular the miners' union.
The Network's delegation, made up of comrades from CSP Conlutas (Brazil), IP (Poland), Union syndicale Solidaires (France), ADL Cobas (Italy), Cobas (Spanish State), Emancipation (France) and TUC Liverpool (England), provided material assistance to the defence against Russian aggression and supported the Ukrainian popular resistance.
In the discussions organized with the workers, we were able to see the very strong commitment of the unions in the defense of their population, in particular by the presence of many trade unionists at the front, the help they give to the soldiers involved in the protection of the city.
They have described widely the increasingly degraded working conditions and pay during the war, as a result of the war, but also of employers and the Zelensky government, which is attacking labour and social rights. They reiterated that international union support is important.
We know that we have contributed to appreciated assistance and we have brought concrete and direct international trade union solidarity. If we feel that we have given them necessary (but never enough!) support, we return more fort.es these meetings, more décidé.es to carry the fight of the trade unionists of Ukraine and to continue to remain at their side. We will necessarily go back... wishing it would be in peacetime.
