Appeal from the Palestinian Postal Services Workers’ Union to trade unions worldwide
On 24 July 2026, the Palestinian town of Tell, west of Nablus, witnessed a further escalation of violence. Armed settlers attacked the area, followed by a major military operation which resulted in deaths and injuries amongst Palestinian civilians and led to the closure of roads leading to Nablus and neighbouring villages.
This is not an isolated incident. It is part of a series of increasingly frequent attacks against Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Postal Workers’ Union is issuing an urgent appeal to all trade unions worldwide. Palestinian workers, their families and their communities live under the constant threat of attacks, restrictions on movement, the destruction of their property and daily insecurity. Many are no longer able to reach their workplaces, their farmland, schools or health services safely.
Violence by settlers has become systematic. Homes, vehicles, farms and olive groves are being attacked. Palestinian families are being prevented from accessing their land. Entire communities are living in fear, with no protection and no accountability for the perpetrators of these acts.
The gravity of this situation was also illustrated by the acts of intimidation suffered by US Congressman Ro Khanna during his recent visit to Ramallah. The fact that a US Congressman can be subjected to such aggression demonstrates the level of impunity enjoyed by the perpetrators of this violence.
Our colleague Imad Abdulrahman Ali Temeiza, a trade union leader from the town of Idhna, near Hebron, embodies the reality faced by thousands of Palestinian families. His family has repeatedly suffered attacks on their farmland, threats, the destruction of their crops and severe restrictions on their movement. His story is that of many Palestinian workers who simply wish to live and work in peace.
We call on all trade unions to:
● Publicly condemn the attacks against Palestinian civilians.
● Call on your governments and parliaments to take immediate action to put an end to settler violence and protect Palestinian civilians.
● Call on the United Nations and the international community to ensure effective international protection for Palestinian communities
● Send trade union delegations to assess the situation on the ground.
● Support legal action and human rights initiatives to ensure that those responsible are held to account.
The trade union movement has always stood up for justice, human dignity and workers’ rights. Today, Palestinian workers need your solidarity more than ever.
Silence encourages the continuation of violence. Your voice can help to protect lives and uphold the principles of justice and international law.

The member organisations of the International Trade Union Network for Solidarity and Struggles once again condemn the colonisation of the occupied West Bank, which is taking an increasingly dramatic turn. In recent months, the Israeli government has intensified its settlement policies, and settlers are evicting, driving out and killing Palestinians, under the watchful eye and with the support of the Israeli army, with total impunity, in flagrant violation of international law.
The member organisations of the International Trade Union Network for Solidarity and Struggles will continue to support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
We will continue our actions against the genocide in Gaza, colonisation and apartheid in the occupied West Bank, and the destruction in Lebanon, in particular by:
- raising awareness of the situation faced by the Palestinian people,
- amplifying the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) and ‘Stop Arming Israel’ campaigns
- running divestment campaigns alongside our federations and trade unions.
The impunity of this genocidal state must end.
We will continue to demonstrate, raise awareness and put pressure on governments to end the silence and international complicity, starting with that of our own government.
We also call for financial support for the trade unions on the ground, which, day in, day out and in these extremely difficult circumstances, are organising the defence of workers’ rights and providing economic and food support to the population.
