Palestinian trade unionist denounces Zionist attack on his family's land in the West Bank.
The International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggle stands in solidarity with Palestinian comrade Imad Temiza, whose family lands in the West Bank were attacked by Zionist Israeli settlers earlier this month.
Imad currently lives in Idna and for eight years he was president of the Palestinian Postal Workers' Union, which is affiliated with our organization, in Palestine.
In the first week of July, a series of attacks carried out by settlers with the support of the Israeli army instilled panic in families living near the city of Idna, west of Hebron.
The heavily armed Zionists set fire to several crops. When Palestinians tried to save their land, the IDF (Israel Defense Force) prevented them from reaching the fire sites, saying it was now a military zone.
Violence against Palestinians
The case brought to light by Imad is yet another in the wake of ongoing violence perpetrated by settlers against the Palestinian people. Since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza, violence in occupied Palestine has also increased.
In 2025, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) documented approximately 830 Palestinians injured in settler attacks—an average of two injured per day. In 2026, the situation worsened: in the first months of the year, the daily average jumped to 3.8 injured.
From January 2023 to April 2026, more than 5,900 people were forced to abandon their homes due to violence and access restrictions.
The pace accelerated dramatically in 2026: in just three months, almost 1,700 Palestinians were displaced, exceeding the total for the entire year of 2025.
Expansion of Zionism
Recent reports from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), published in March 2026, describe an acceleration in the expansion of settlements, which has been a central factor in instability:
Israeli authorities advanced or approved plans for approximately 37,000 housing units in East Jerusalem and more than 27,000 in the rest of the West Bank. 84 new settlement outposts were established in a 12-month period.
