Solidarity with the workers of Nepal
The Red
The International Trade Union Network for Solidarity and Struggles
endorses this message of support, drafted by our comrades at APFUTU,
for the workers of Nepal:
International trade union solidarity!
To the trade unions, labour organizations, and working people of Nepal, we extends its full solidarity and fraternal support to the workers, trade unions, students, informal workers, and marginalized communities of Nepal in their struggle against anti-worker and anti-democratic measures being pursued by the current administration.
We are deeply concerned by attempts to restrict and ban civil service trade unions and partisan student organizations, which constitute a direct attack on democratic rights, freedom of association, and the historic rights won through the struggles of workers and students.
We also stand with Nepali workers resisting exploitative labour policies that leave workers particularly those in the gig economy, outsourcing sectors, and precarious forms of employment without adequate legal protection, job security, or dignity.
No worker should be treated as a “modern slave” in the name of economic development or technological change.
We strongly condemns the aggressive anti-encroachment drives and the so-called “bulldozer rule” that is destroying the homes and livelihoods of working-class and landless families without proper rehabilitation, compensation, or social justice. Policies that criminalize poverty while protecting elite interests can never bring genuine progress.
The struggles of Nepali workers, landless communities, students, and trade unions are part of the broader international struggle against exploitation, repression, precarious employment, and the erosion of democratic rights.
We express our unwavering solidarity with all protests, demonstrations, and democratic mobilizations being carried out in defence of:
trade union rights and freedom of association;
decent work and labour protections;
the rights of gig and outsourced workers;
housing, livelihood, and dignity for landless and marginalized communities;
democratic freedoms and social justice.
At a time when governments across the region are increasingly adopting anti-worker policies, the unity and resistance of organized workers and peoples’ movements remain the strongest defence of democracy and social justice.
We stands firmly with the workers and oppressed people of Nepal and supports your just struggle for dignity, equality, labour rights, and a humane and democratic society.
