Mobilizations are growing for the immediate freedom of Brazilian Thiago Ávila and Palestinian-Spanish Saif Abukeshek. Both activists remain in Israeli custody after being kidnapped in international waters last week.

On Sunday (3), a Zionist court extended their detention until Tuesday (5). According to Thiago's wife, the Brazilian embassy and the lawyer responsible for the case reported that five accusations were presented.

These were not formalized, but only presented as "suspicions" of association with terrorism. According to the defense, no legal basis or evidence was presented to justify such allegations.

This Monday (4), part of the Brazilian delegation kidnapped along with Thiago and Saif arrived in Brazil, after being released and deported to Turkey.

According to Mandi Coelho, one of the activists arrested by Israel, the interception was even more brutal than in previous missions.

Last year, Israel boarded vessels about 150 nautical miles from Gaza, but this time attacked between 600 and 700 nautical miles away, in international waters, between Greece and Italy.

“They intercepted us right under the noses of the whole of Europe, doing it in front of all the governments in the world. And nobody does anything, quite the contrary, the governments are complicit,” denounced Mandi.

During their captivity, the activists were held incommunicado and taken to containers and confinement spaces, where they were kept under conditions of physical and psychological violence.

The hijacking of the flotilla showed that there are no limits to the actions of a state that kidnaps civilians in international waters, acts outside the law, and transforms even a humanitarian mission into a military target.

Flotilla Continues

The Global Sumud Flotilla continues in the Mediterranean with 33 boats and more vessels expected to join in the coming days. The flotilla's continuation is also a sign of hope in the face of Zionist barbarity.

The International Trade Union Network of Solidarity and Struggle welcomes the return of our comrades! We will remain strongly engaged in the mobilization for the release of Thiago and Saif. Enough of the persecution and repression of those who fight in defense of the Palestinian people.
