BAYER: we condemn the dismissal of a union leader in Brazil
On March 16, 2026, the BAYER company in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil (formerly Monsanto), dismissed worker and union leader Cristian Denis da Cunha for defending the rights of workers. This political persecution is a brutal attack against our comrade, against the factory workers, and against the Union. An attack on the right to union organization of the entire working class.
This dismissal is illegal for several reasons: it violates the Federal Constitution, infringes on the right to job security for those holding union office, and constitutes anti-union practice because it violates basic rights, such as prohibiting or suppressing activities in defense of the company's employees. The Union was not notified, as required by law and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, before taking any disciplinary action. The company took Cristian's badge and escorted him to the street, forbidding him from communicating with his colleagues at the factory. We repudiate this inconceivable aggression.
Bayer has a history of workplace harassment, persecution of activists, and attacks on strikes. And it pays fewer benefits than other Bayer units in Brazil.
• BAYER: ENOUGH OF COERCION AND WORKPLACE HARASSMENT!
• PAYMENT OF ALL RIGHTS NOW!
• IMMEDIATE REINSTATEMENT OF UNION DIRECTOR CRISTIAN DENIS DA CUNHA!
