Human chain in Dhaka demanding timely payment of Eid bonuses and outstanding salaries for garment workers

Yesterday, NGWF organized a human chain in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka demanding timely payment of Eid bonuses and outstanding salaries for garment workers. Following the human chain, a rally of workers marched through the High Court and Topkhana Road area and concluded at Paltan Intersection.
The program was chaired by NGWF President Amirul Haque Amin and moderated by NGWF General Secretary Rafiqul Islam.
The program highlighted the growing crisis affecting garment workers ahead of Eid. Currently, around 79 garment factories remain closed, and workers in nearly 150 factories have not yet received salaries for January and even December. As a result, hundreds of thousands of workers are facing severe difficulties. With the country's main festival Eid approaching, ensuring timely payment of wages and bonuses for the country’s 4.2 million garment workers has become an urgent issue.
NGWF has appealed to the Honorable Prime Minister to take necessary steps to ensure that all workers receive their salaries and Eid bonuses before Eid, allowing them to return to their families and celebrate the festival with dignity.
