In Switzerland, in the canton of Vaud, public service workers have been on strike for several weeks; the movement continues and is gaining momentum.

Rallies, demonstrations and strikes are taking place one after another, supported in particular by the SSP Vaud public and parapublic services union, the SUD trade union federation and the Federation of Civil Servants' Societies and Parapublic Associations of Vaud (FSF).

The social conflict was triggered by budget cuts decided by the government. As the three organisations write: "The two days of strikes and action called by the FSF, SUD and SSP on 25 and 26 November once again broke records for participation, with thousands of strikers and a demonstration that brought together 28,000 angry employees and users. [...] The government is mired in a deep political crisis. Without any news from them, we will be back on Tuesday and Wednesday in front of the Grand Council, on strike on Thursday and beyond, as decided by the AGM on Tuesday 25th and formalised in the attached resolution. This same resolution was adopted by acclamation by the 28,000 demonstrators who filled the Place du Château. The movement will continue for as long as it takes."
