Support for our comrades in the UGTT!
The Network
Taking advantage of the deterioration of the democratic situation in Tunisia, employers are stepping up their repression of trade union activists who defend workers. For example:
- In the offshoring sector, two French multinationals, SPB and Armatis, have just dismissed trade union officials.
- At Armatis, a multinational customer relations company, the entire UGTT union office was dismissed a few hours after its appointment.
- At insurance broker SPB, the two union leaders were dismissed a few months apart.
Employers are rushing to follow the path opened up by Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed. His determination to fight the UGTT is clear; he demonstrated this in his statement following the attempted assault on the confederation's headquarters and his calls to criminalise trade union action.
The member organisations of the International Trade Union Network of Solidarity and Struggles support their comrades in the UGTT and are relaying the call for financial support for the comrades dismissed by Armatis: here.
