The Network

The trade union organisations represented at the meeting organised on the initiative of the International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggles on 21 and 22 June in Kyiv, Ukraine state the following:

- reaffirm their support for the Ukrainian trade union and popular resistance against military aggression and occupation.

- Support the calls by Palestinian trade unions and associations to break with the genocidal state that oppresses them, and by trade unions and workers' collectives in Iran denouncing the consequences Israeli attacks have for the population of this country. These attacks are in no way aimed at liberating the Iranian people from the authoritarian regime that oppresses them.

- We are for peace throughout the world, but there cannot be just and long lasting peace if it is based on imperialism, colonialism, military aggression or regimes that deny freedom and the right of peoples to self-determination.

- As trade unionists, we organise workers to fight as effectively as possible against attacks on the rights of all and for the improvement of the living conditions of those who produce the wealth that is currently captured by a minority of exploiters.

- Our trade union action is based on democracy, the right of everyone to participate in trade union life, the struggle for demands and against all forms of oppression.

- Our trade unionism is internationalist because our interests are common and solidarity is a necessity for profound change.

- But at the international level too, we want to develop a trade unionism that is close to workers, directly linked to their situation and their demands. Coordination by professional sectors is a priority. Effective work in this area will enable us to build a mass movement with emancipatory perspectives.

- The International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggles, of which some of the organisations present here are members, is a tool for this. It is open to all independent trade union forces and to other struggles: feminist, environmentalist, anti-fascist and anti-racist, whether or not they are members of trade union structures.

- The sixth international meeting of the Network will be held in Chianciamo Terme, Italy, from 13 to 16 November, and we call on everyone to participate!
