Stop Turkey's war crimes!
On Thursday 19 December, the Turkish army murdered journalists Cihan Bilgin and Nazım Daştan. She and he were covering the fighting around the Tishrin dam between the so-called Syrian National Army, made up of armed groups in the service of Turkey, and the Syrian Democratic Forces defending the democratic autonomous administration of northern and eastern Syria (Rojava). A Turkish drone deliberately fired on the vehicle carrying the journalists. The driver of the two journalists was seriously injured. This is a war crime committed by a NATO army. In August 2024, Turkey had already murdered the journalists Hêro Bahadîn and Gülistan Tara in Southern Kurdistan (in Iraq) in the same way.
This deliberate attack was aimed at the independent Kurdish press, which reports from the field on the abuses committed by armed groups working for Erdogan's regime. It has since been roundly condemned by many professional bodies and journalists' unions in Turkey.
Stop impunity! The Turkish regime must be held responsible for the deaths of these two journalists. The International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggle denounces Turkish interference in Syria and the war crimes committed by the Turkish army or its Syrian auxiliaries against the areas under the control of the autonomous administration (Rojava) and their inhabitants. We denounce Turkey's actions and call for an end to partnerships with Erdogan's criminal regime.
