The Network
A European meeting of the International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggles devoted to the professional health and social sector was held in Paris on 7 December 2024.
Building on previous initiatives by our Network, our organisations are committed to taking part in the International Day of Struggle on 7 April for the right to health for all. This is part of the global struggle for a public health and social service with the resources needed to meet common needs.
As trade unions, we defend the interests of workers. It is those who work who know the realities best, not the shareholders of private companies or the managers parachuted in by the public authorities; companies that put their profits before the health of the population. Across Europe, health and social care workers are suffering from increasingly difficult working and reception conditions, with wages that are far too low, even though the means exist to meet their needs.
Our International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggles is a tool to support the trade union actions that we carry out in our establishments, in every country; to make them known in other countries; to build joint actions and to oppose the criminalisation of workers' struggles to defend their rights.
7 April is a unifying date that will enable us to make progress in this direction, through demonstrations in several cities around the world.
