Repression in the Embraer strike: workers unjustly detained by the Federal Police!

This Tuesday, October 3th, Embraer metalworkers suffered repression from the São Paulo State Military Police during a legitimate movement for wage demands, in the framework of the category's wage campaign.

The police deployed ten vehicles to Embraer's gate and, at a time when the workers were in assembly, approving a partial strike to demand a real pay rise and the maintenance of their rights, José Dantas Sobrinho, leader of the Metalworkers' Union of São José dos Campos and Region, and Ederlando Carlos da Silva, a militant from Luta Popular (“Popular Struggle”, a movement for housing), were beaten and arbitrarily arrested.

They were taken to the Federal Police station, in São José dos Campos´ downtown, and while still in the parking lot of the station, they were kept in the vehicles for over an hour, in a clear act of constraint and embarrassment against the activists.

The unions demand the immediate release of José Dantas Sobrinho and Ederlando Carlos da Silva and stand in solidarity with the Embraer workers. Fighting is a right!
