Salary increases in mines
KVPU Mines Union
On December 8, a meeting of the council of officials of the independent union of miners of Ukraine in Western Donbass took place. The meeting again raised the issue of increasing salaries of employees of mines and subsidiaries of DTEK Pavlogradugol, which has been on the agenda of union leaders' meetings throughout the year.
The union has repeatedly appealed to the administration, submitting relevant proposals. As a result of negotiations between the union and management, the General Director of DTEK Pavlohradvuhillya, Sergey Voronin, gave an order during the first quarter of this year to introduce a new bonus methodology and reduce the intensity of labor in mining operations, which takes into account all processes and the number of shifts, labor intensity, geological and technical conditions of mining. The administration also took into account a number of amendments to the bonus regulations aimed at expanding the list of jobs subject to the proportional remuneration system and increasing the bonus coefficients in case of exceeding the targets. These decisions made it possible to increase the salaries of tunnel boring machines by up to 15% from the first quarter of 2023.
Thanks to the constant work of the NPGU union, bonus coefficients for underground workers of auxiliary sections will be increased by 20-40% from April 1 of this year.
The administration has introduced a differentiated increase in income by profession by introducing additional increases to the lowest paid categories of employees from September 1, 2023. They vary from 5 to 40%, depending on the size of the salary. This helped increase the income of nearly 5,000 employees by 17% on average.
However, the administration has not fully implemented the proposals of the Western Donbass trade union association, so even taking into account the decisions taken in 2023, the actual increase in salaries for employees is insufficient.
It was unanimously decided to send to the administration of DTEK Pavlohradvuhillya a proposal to convene a working group to consider remuneration issues and increase the tariff rates (salaries) of all employees of production units and branches by at least 30% in January 2024, in collaboration with the unions.
