On October 6 in Dnipro, Bolt Food couriers again protested against the new income calculation system proposed by the delivery company where they work. They gathered at Heroiv Maidan square. Since the beginning of October, they are paid less for their delivery. And they have to travel the whole city for 15 hryvnias [0.39 euro].
The couriers have taken their demands to Bolt Food, but they are not satisfied with the response. “The response from them was as ridiculous as possible. They justified their decision by the fact that the price of gasoline had increased. But this increase in prices does not directly concern them, it concerns us, because we pay for the fuel ourselves,” explains Oleksandr, a courier on strike. The couriers therefore promise to continue the strike until their salaries are increased.
The strike began on October 2. For Oleksandr the main reason for the strike is that the company has eliminated payment for the journey to the restaurant but adds that this strike is not total because not all couriers are on strike. In a letter, for his part, the CEO of Bolt Food explained that the couriers “lived in the wrong country to strike”.
The member organisations of the International Labour Network for Solidarity and Struggle salute the couriers on strike and are publicising the strike in their respective countries!
