Workers’ Aid to Ukraine - online conference

Join us on December 17th for an online meeting with the Ukrainian workers and labour activists from the Local Confederation of the Free Trade Unions in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Region,  Ukraine. 

During the conference “Workers’ Aid to Ukraine, we will hear directly from the Ukrainian unionists about the situation of the working class in Ukraine after 9 months of war. Our comrades, despite their limited resources, struggle to maintain resistance against both Russian aggression and the anti-labour reforms of the Ukrainian government. Their conditions worsened after the ongoing massive bombings on the critical infrastructure in Ukraine. The winter has come and the people of the  industrial city of Kryvyi Rih suffer from the shortages of electricity, heating and water. Moreover many employers are cutting wages by half, which makes meeting the basic needs for the Ukrainian workers even more difficult. 

The meeting is a result of the two Workers’ Aid convoys to Ukraine organized by the International Labour Network for Solidarity and Struggles (ILNSS) with the direct involvement of its union members from Brazil (CSP-Conlutas), France (Union Syndicale Solidaires and L’Emancipation), Italy (ADL-Cobas), Poland (IP - Workers’ Initiative union), Spain (Co.bas) and Lithuania (G1PS). Both convoys delivered technical, tactical and medical equipment, power generators, tools, cloths, food and other essential products to the workers in Kryvyi Rih. The  conference is open to all the ILNSS organizations and friendly unions willing to participate. It will be accompanied by the launching of a crowdfunding campaign. The money raised will be sent directly to the Miners and Metalworkers Union of Kryvyi Rih international bank account. According to the reports from Yuri Samoilov, the head of the Union, thermal cloths and other essential goods are needed to cope with the hard winter under the war conditions, attacks on the wages and workers rights by the oligarchs, shortages in electricity, water and heating.
