In April and May 2022, a wave of raids and arrests of independent trade union activists swept through Belarus and in July the Supreme Court liquidated all democratic trade unions. At least 37 trade union leaders and activists are currently illegally imprisoned, several of whom have already been sentenced to years in prison. On 20 December, the trial against the leaders of the trade union confederation "Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions" (BKDP) will open in the Minsk City Court. The accused are BKDP President Aliaksandr Yarashuk, Vice-President Siarhei Antusevich, and trade union confederation accountant Iryna But-Husaim.

The member organisations of the International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggle reaffirm their solidarity with the Belarusian comrades, demand their release and the return of trade union freedoms in the country, which is currently under the yoke of a dictatorship that supports the Putin regime
