Union of Postal Workers in Palestine

Our union is following with grave concern the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to install more iron gates at the entrances of Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps in the occupied West Bank. The number of these gates has now exceeded one thousand, cutting the land into isolated parts and separating people from one another.

These gates not only violate our people's right to freedom of movement but also directly obstruct the flow of postal services.

They prevent the delivery of letters, parcels, and official documents between cities and villages, disrupting people's daily lives and blocking essential humanitarian services such as health, education, and trade. Postal workers, who dedicate themselves to serving the people everywhere, have become unable to carry out their duties under these restrictions that have turned the West Bank into closed prisons.

We in the Union of Postal Workers consider these policies an extension of settlement and gradual annexation plans--an organized crime that strikes at the very core of Palestinian life and fundamental rights.

Therefore, we call on international trade unions, humanitarian organizations, and all people of conscience around the world to urgently intervene and press for:

The removal and dismantling of these iron gates.
An end to all unilateral measures that obstruct people's movement and services.
Guaranteeing the freedom of movement for postal workers to fulfill their humanitarian mission.
Providing international protection for the Palestinian people and their basic rights.

Our voice today is a call of solidarity and urgency.

We appeal to all who believe in freedom and justice to take immediate action to stop this crime against people, postal services, and life itself.
