Global Sumud Flotilla Brings International Solidarity to Gaza
Among the activists are two leaders from the International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggles
On Sunday (31), the Global Sumud Flotilla set sail from Barcelona, carrying humanitarian aid and international solidarity for the Palestinian people. Among the activists are two leaders from the International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggles: Magno de Carvalho, from CSP-Conlutas (Brazil), and Saturnino Mercader o Merca, from CGT Catalonia (Spain).
Magno sent a message: “We set sail with a crowd supporting us. We are many, from many countries, united to break the illegal blockade and bring food and medicine to Gaza. The victory of the Palestinian people is the victory of all of us who fight against imperialism and capitalism.”
Merca said that “we must stand alongside the brave Palestinian people. If anything happens along the way, if the Zionist government kidnaps us or imprisons us, we hope for the mobilisation and solidarity of the working class”.
The mission brings together over 50 boats and delegations from 44 countries, making it the largest maritime action in solidarity with Gaza ever undertaken. Despite weather conditions that suspended new departures on Monday (1st), activists remain determined to continue the journey to Palestine as soon as possible.
