OCCUPIED PALESTINE: MORE THAN 60,000 DEAD, A HUMANITARIAN CATASTROPHE THE WORLD CANNOT IGNORE

The genocide in Palestine continues in front of the world’s eyes. Since October 2023, the Zionist State of Israel has unleashed a brutal military offensive that has already killed more than 60,000 Palestinians — a figure that, according to multiple organizations, is clearly underestimated.

In just six months, Israel dropped more than 70,000 tons of explosives on the Palestinian population — more than the total amount of bombs dropped on Europe during all six years of World War II. All this under the false pretext of “self-defense,” while war crimes are shamelessly broadcast on social media by Israeli soldiers who display the atrocities they commit with total impunity.

This is a war that primarily kills women and children. The barbarity has reached unimaginable levels: even a fertility clinic was bombed, destroying more than 4,000 Palestinian embryos. For the Zionist state, any potential Palestinian life must be eliminated.

In Gaza, most of the deaths are civilians, while a criminal blockade prevents access to food, medicine, and essential supplies. In the occupied West Bank, repression is escalating with targeted assassinations, mass arrests, and the accelerated expansion of illegal settlements.

All this happens with the complicity of imperialist powers that economically, politically, and militarily support the Israeli regime. The inaction of the international community is itself an act of collaboration with the genocide. In countries like Brazil, for example, President Lula’s critical statements have not been translated into concrete action. Maintaining diplomatic, commercial, and political relations with this fascist state is a scandal and a disgrace.

Nevertheless, in the face of catastrophe, resistance grows. Hundreds of thousands of people are mobilizing worldwide in solidarity with the Palestinian people. In London alone, half a million people took to the streets in a historic march to the British Prime Minister’s office. In The Hague, Netherlands, 100,000 protesters carried out the largest demonstration in two decades, demanding an end to their government’s complicity, as the International Court of Justice reviews the genocide case against Israel, filed by South Africa.

Massive protests also took place in Madrid, Stockholm, Berlin, Hamburg, Athens, Amsterdam, Milan, Dublin, and dozens of cities across the United States, Canada, Australia, and the Middle East. In Brazil, the largest demonstration took place in São Paulo, organized by the Frente Palestina.

From the International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggles, we reaffirm our absolute condemnation of the Zionist genocide and the complicity of governments that enable it. We stand firmly with the Palestinian people in their fight for freedom, sovereignty, and the right of return.
