The National Associaton of Human Rights Defenders has appealed to Human Rights Organizations and the International Community to intervene to resolve the water crisis caused by the occupation.

HRD warns of the worsening water crisis in the southern West Bank due to the reduction of water supplies by the Israeli company "Mekorot" to Hebron and Bethlehem Governorates. They are bring cutting off supplies from the Deir Sha'ar water source by uo to 35%. HRD asserts that this reduction, at such a critical time, indicates an early water  crisis that will exacerbate the suffering of citizens and deprive them of their basic human right to water and to sanitation. HRD strengthens the fact that the usual water allocations systematically do not meet the required per capita share, even under the daily apartheid conditions.

In these extreme circumstances, HRD calls on the International Community and Humanitarian Organizations to urgently intervene to resolve this crisis and prevent its escalation, particularly in the current reinforced violence of occupation. HRD emphasizes that access to water is a fundamental right that must be defended, and that the reduction of water quantities is a blatant violation of this basic human right.

HRD also calls for sanctions and boycott of services provided by the Israeli company "Mekorot". The occupation indeed contributes to deprive citizens of their basic rights and exacerbate humanitarian vulnerable conditions, Palestinians are submitted to in the region.
