Workers' Rights: The Struggle in Pelsan Tekstil Against Oppression and Union-busting Tactics

In Pelsan Tekstil, a hygienic textile manufacturing company of the HASSAN Group established in Gazi Osman Paşa OSB/Çerkezköy/Tekirdağ, workers who could not stand the bad working conditions and the pressure inside the company, joined together and became members of the TEKSIF union affiliated to TÜRK-İŞ and started a struggle for their rights.

Of course, this was carried out in secret for a certain period of time, but when the number of workers gradually increased, the management became aware of it and last week the employer organised a meeting.

Although the main agenda was seen as the concerns and demands of the workers, the agenda was the discomfort with the union.

The slaughter of workers began, thanks to the efforts to identify names inside, the interrogations of postmasters and informant workers.

Last week a few people were dismissed and on the first day of this new week a few more friends were dismissed. It is obvious that the slaughter of workers will continue throughout this week.

Pelsan bosses, who earn millions on the backs of the labourers, do not even pay dismissal compensation to their workers who leave their families at the crack of dawn and at night and earn millions for the employer.

The bosses will of course pay for this. The Pelsan employer has tried to test its workers with hunger. Security forces unjustly protect the employer against those who use their constitutional powers and become union members. Even in a situation that violates the constitution, the fact that the state forces embrace the capital is proof that the country is under the rule of capital.

So are we going to give up? On the contrary, we will continue to fight even stronger until the union enters Pelsan! Subsequently, we will continue to struggle until all workplaces within the HASSAN Group and until there are no non-unionised workplaces in our country!

We must! Long live our organised struggle!
