The protest organizing council of oil contract workers reported today that project workers in Abadan Oil Refining Company gathered in front of the entrance gate of the personnel and started their strike. According to the news from yesterday, parts of these workers who had stopped working in phase 2 were confronted by the security forces to prevent the initial formation of the strike.

Yesterday, oil project workers in solidarity with the revolutionary uprising of the people and shouting death to the dictator, started a rally and strike in several oil centers in Asaluye and Kangan in South Pars and Abadan.

According to the latest news, a number of striking oil workers have been arrested. The names of some of the detained workers are: Mehdi Jahanbakhshi – Ali Mahmoudi – Hadi Moulai – Noor Ali Bahadri – Farid Koravand – Kambiz Mehmadi – Shahin Najafi – Ahmed Pour – Farshid Moradi – Ali Shapouri and Omid Koravand.

In protest to these arrests and for the release of the arrested workers, the workers are preparing to hold a rally at Assalouye main junction. The area is being intensely militarized and several security convoys have been sent there. .

In a statement last night, the organizing council of oil contract workers’ protests called on the workers to strike and gatherings, also called on all sections of oil workers to join the strike in order to confront the arrests, and solidarity with the nationwide uprising. The statement of the council states: “The orgnaising council of contract workers, calls on all oil workers, project and official, contractual and volume workers, fuel transportation and operational workers, colleagues working in national drilling, exploitation, refineries and petrochemicals for a nationwide strike in oil industry in solidarity with the people’s protests. The organizing council calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the recently arrested and all political prisoners, the removal of repression forces from the streets, an end to the repression of people, and introduction and trial of all perpetrators. It also emphasizes that the killers of Mahsa Amini and all those who were killed should be named and tried. .

It should be mentioned that yesterday the striking workers of phase 14 of Kangan gave a three-day ultimatum in protest to the securitising of their protest space and the regime’s reinforcements to the area and announced that if the suppression forces are not pulled out from the oil centres, they will continue and widen their protest in more areas.
