National Trade Union Meeting: Agreements and Strategic Directions
The Red
On Saturday 11 April 2026, the city of Caracas hosted a strategic meeting that brought together 105 trade union leaders in person and over a hundred more via virtual platforms, covering almost the entire country.
This event consolidated a historic united effort representing six trade union confederations (CTV, ASI, CUTV, UNETE, CGT, CODESA), national and regional federations, professional and technical guilds and associations, grassroots unions, and trade union factions; labour sectors including teaching, universities, healthcare, oil, electricity, construction, communications, and the basic industries of Guayana, private sector workers and the powerful sector of pensioners and retirees, amongst others.
The assembly was characterised by its pluralistic nature, successfully bringing together different political and ideological perspectives under a fundamental premise: in the face of the current crisis and the anti-labour offensive, unity is not merely a tactical option, but an existential necessity for the survival of the trade union movement and the defence of the rights of the Venezuelan working class.
