Solidarity with Native Brazilian in Belem (PA)
The International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggles (ILNSS) stands in solidarity with the Para State Native-Brazilians who occupy the Secretary of Education headquarters at Belem city since January 14, against the bill 10820/2024 which terminates the bilingual public education to the Native peoples grounded on their culture, as well as replace teachers for online classes.
The Native-Brazilians also demand the dismissal of the Secretary of Education Rossieli Soares.
Belem city will host the COP meeting in November. The governor Helder Barbalho presents it as ‘The Rainforest Preservation Summit” while, in fact, working to cut Native-Brazilians rights in order to “sell” the rainforest to global capitalists.
The ILNSS call labor and people’s organizations across the world to support the Native-Brazilians in their struggle for cultural rights and for the preservation of the Amazon rainforests.
